Local Suppliers

 

A Plan In Place is a local business begun by two homeschool moms which will create a customized lesson planner for your homeschool from information you give them. Their website also offers some planner ideas and a generic planning sheet to download. (Salem and online)

Abeka Books is a traditional style curriculum for Christians who like textbooks and workbooks. They sell through seasonal traveling display shows. See their website for schedule of a display show near you.

Exodus Books has been Portland's premiere Christian home school supply store for over 20 years. Exodus currently provides immediate online ordering and a store located in Oregon City. (Portland metro and online)

 

George Fox University Science Outreach Program will loan science supplies and even lab time in their science labs. Items loaned include microscopes, snakes, and yes, even cadavers. (Newberg)

Nurnberg Scientific Distributors is a local distributor of lab supplies which sells to the general public.  You can purchase online, by fax, or by phone. If you don't see what you want online, give them a call as not all items are listed. (SW Portland)

OCEANetwork, provides an annual Christian homeschool convention with workshops and displays. Merchants come from across the nation to demonstrate their materials. The convention is typically held in mid-June, and it can be a bit overwhelming. CHOC tip: Sign up for newsletters and email lists and grab as many catalogs as possible from those that catch your eye. You can sort later as you have time, and calm, to think.

Online Suppliers

 

Abeka Books is a traditional style curriculum for Christians who like textbooks and workbooks. It also provides a distance academy. (Online and traveling display shows. See website for schedule of a display show near you.)

Alpha Omega Publications produces a traditional style Christian education in work packets (Life Pacs) and online computer programs. Purchase individual curriculum or join their academy for oversight.

​

Amazon provides a plethora of workbooks, textbooks, readers, and learning kits, new and used, for all types of styles. Use their search engine to discover many options for any subject.

​

Beautiful Feet Books provides Charlotte Mason style living books with history through literature units and supplemental guides along Christian themes. 

​

Bob Jones University Press is another traditional style Christian curriculum publisher with textbooks and workbooks to purchase. It also provides online classes through academy support. 

​

Christian Book Distributors supplies a large array of Christian home schooling curriculum in many educational styles.

​

CTC Math provides a full traditional math curriculum program with help videos online which many homeschoolers have found incredibly useful.

​

Christian Liberty Press is a traditional style curriculum developed from their private schools. We have found their books very economical. CLP also provides an academy for support.

​

Dorling Kindersley Publishers (DK Books) provides the ultimate in secular encyclopedias and subject books geared for visual beauty and fact learning. Multiple subjects to choose from. Great for all styles but especially the eclectic and unschooler.

​

Evan Moore Publishers is a secular publisher that excels in well laid out traditional workbooks, many of which are reproducible. Many subjects to choose from. Most workbooks provide a mini lesson then student work pages.

​

Greenleaf Press produces "twaddle free" curriculum and "living books" for homeschool families in the classical flavor. Their guides on the Old Testament and ancient history are especially well done.

​

Konos provides themed unit studies for those who like an integral (thematic) approach using "living books" and  hands-on activities.

​

Love to Learn supplies an eclectic assortment of books and activity kits that are unique and engaging for hands-on learners. You can find everything from the Rod and Staff coloring books to sewing kits to familiar textbooks.

​

Milestone Books is a Mennonite foundation that supplies traditional Christian textbooks that are especially God honoring. They have wonderful coloring books that are very educational. Economical materials. Milestone also supplies curriculum in a number of languages.

​

New Leaf Publishers and Master Books provides reference type books geared towards the sciences from a Christian worldview. Good for all schooling types.

​

Notgrass Publishing focuses on history with original, primary documents, living books, their own Christian textbooks, and hands-on activities. 

​

Rainbow Resources is another online favorite of Christian homeschoolers that supplies many types of curriculum.

​

Scholastic Publishers is a well established secular company that provides traditional type workbooks, activity books, and readers (click through the category drop-down menu) across many subjects. It requires a teacher license to buy directly from them. However, find the book on their website and most are sold on Amazon.

​

Seton Educational Media provides a full range of traditional textbooks and curriculum catering especially to Catholic homeschoolers. 

​

Sonlight styles its curriculum by the Charlotte Mason "living books." Founded to provide material to missionaries seeking a more global mindset.

​

Tapestry of Grace is a Christian classical homeschool curriculum whose guides follow a spiraling track that adapts well to multiple age groups.

​

Teacher Created Materials "At-Home Learning Resources" section provides well formatted secular traditional style work books that create a mini-lesson with student work pages. Multiple subjects to choose from. 

​

Timberdoodle provides unique, hands-on educational curriculum and tools not normally found elsewhere that are perfect for the eclectic schooler or hands-on learner.

​

Veritas Press is a Christian classical education method that provides its own curriculum for sale to the public.

​

Weaver Curriculum is another themed unit study curriculum that provides thematic units with "living books" and hands-on activities. Weaver seeks to be especially Bible centered.

​

Well Trained Mind provides classical style curriculum for Christian homeschoolers.
